Hark: the storyteller is back...

Ok, the thinking behind this forum is to shed some light on any useful information that may be of use to your fellow weary traveller or keen surf dudes when cruising about our shores. So if you've been on the road for longer than you can remember, have a handle bar moustache and when you're thirsty you think of diesel -  you've probably got some parcels of wisdom to pass down.

Alternatively, unleash the inner story teller and lets hear those tall tales. Lets see how long it will take to get a single post in here and thus confirm this forum's outrageous demand.

Top secret place for keeping your keys. It's surprising that no one has thought of this, but the suspension cup of the passenger front side always seems to work a treat for me!

Re: Hark: the storyteller is back...

Well, funny you should say that....

Once upon a time hiding your keys in the suspension cup might have been fail safe - but that was in the day when all the kids had side-partings and dressed up for meals with their parents. These days I'm not so sure.

A few years back when I was living in Swansea I went down to Horton to windsurf with some chums. Being rookies, we pretty much took everything we owned in my car and rocked up in to this tranquil car park and did our rigging and hit the beach. Being the stealth master that I am, I pretty much lifted the key in the air (almost in ceremony) and then slowly placed it under the bumper.

This worked great for about 10 minutes, until a car full of crack smoking hoodlums drove off in it. At which point, when I came back to rig down, all that was left was a pair of my mate's shoes where my car should have been. Disappointing.

The key under the bumper trick worked fine at Hill Head, but wasn't Swansea proof. The morale of this story is hide your keys somewhere clever. Having said that, I'm pretty much as lazy as I used to be these days.

Re: Hark: the storyteller is back...

probably in Swansea it's best to tie the key to a lamp post, or is that another joke...

Another good place is under a random rock, that you cunningly remember

I've tried the rock one as well, works fairly well - a bit of a risk though for lost keys. Get a wetsuit with a key holder in the leg - that's the trick - Rip Curl Bomb - that'll do it!
